About Humble & Poe

Objects are placed about our home and our lives as a curated collection of memories, stories, style, and personality. And part of the Humble & Poe story is that we contribute a portion of every sale toward organizations doing important work for women.

I have the fondest memories of decorating as a child. Mom would dust regularly on Saturday mornings, and I would come along behind her and lovingly re-position the knickknacks on my dresser. I looked forward to seasonal cleaning when I knew mom and I would rearrange the furniture and change the curtains and the bedspread as a way to welcome in the new season.

I have also been interested in issues impacting women since I can remember. It didn’t take long for me to realize that the mistreatment of women ran deep across the globe. As a kid, I would dream about joining the Peace Corps. In high school, I wrote my college application essay on female genital cutting. In art school, I participated in a project to help create a postcard campaign highlighting the wage gap between men and women in the region. And recently, I began to blog in an effort to explore some of the pressing issues that continue to have a grip on societies around the world.

The blending of these two life long interests gave birth to Humble & Poe. Humble & Poe strives to be a thoughtful shopping experience and learning resource where you can find décor and objects with pop and personality, learn about what’s happening in the world, and feel good that you’ve made a positive contribution toward bettering a woman’s life.

I hope that you’ll allow Humble & Poe to be a punctuation mark to your story. If you’d like to stay in touch to hear about Humble & Poe happenings, consider joining the Humble & Poe mailing list.

Love,
Kelly
