#BringBackOurGirls: One Year Later, Nigerian School Girls Still Missing

One year ago, over 200 school girls were abducted from Chibok, a town in northeast Nigeria. Militant group, Boko Haram, took credit for the abduction and is said to have married, sold into slavery, or converted the girls into fighters. Since the start of the crisis, the terrorist group has abducted over 2,000 girls and women and executed thousands of civilians.

Amnesty International has just released a report on the situation in Nigeria. They have done important work on the ground, compiling first hand interviews from dangerous areas. Though the report spotlights the most atrocious crimes against humanity, there is hope that a recent change in the political established will gain control over the terrorist group, and the Nigerian people are tenaciously banding together to demand that Boko Haram #BringBackOurGirls.

NPR summarizes the situation well in a 4 minute audio report.
